Innovative Gadgets
I hear a lot of people talk about how they just aren’t technology savvy as if they were born that way and there is nothing they can do about it. I also meet people who think they are the Dalai Lama of technology and then seem to have no idea what they are doing on a Skype call.
Either way, the real trick to being up to speed with technology is to always be looking to learn the next new product and skill. In other words, you can’t “learn technology” once and then check it off your to-do list. And it’s also not a skill you are born with…
Staying “up” on technology is kind of like staying “up” on current events—to know what’s hot and on-trend, you have to read or watch the news on a regular basis.
With that in mind, here are three of our favorite cool new-to-the market products, or innovative gadgets that can help keep your business up to date in terms of technology:
We have to say this is our favorite on the list. It’s basically a huge board to write on where the content gets saved as you write or draw. Picture Google Docs mixed with a dry erase board. QuirkLogic’s smart board can be used for up to 16 hours (!) on one battery charge. It’s 42” high def display only weighs twenty-two pounds and you can log back in to the software system later and look through the library of content that you have created. WE. WANT. ONE.
A lot of professional (and residential) properties have spots where the wireless connection is not dependable or even, essentially non-existent. In an effort to prevent you from having a myriad of routers – just so that Bob in Accounting can get on the internet – Linksys has created mesh routers. These routers basically catch any bad spots in your signal with their virtual “mesh net” wifi connection and fill them in to improve delivery and reliability.
This sleek square-shaped charging station from Ossia can re-power multiple devices within a 30-foot radius of its location. And by multiple, we mean dozens. How great would it be to have all of your smart hardware automatically start charging when you sat down at your desk in the morning? Pretty great… that’s “how great.”
Not only will your company’s efficiency improve from adding new technologies to your business’s operations, but learning something new is a great way to re-engage employees.
We would definitely be psyched to walk into a conference room and see a Quilla on the wall. Did we mention we want one?!
